Dr. Dennis White, Alliant’s President and CEO is known to quote the words of Flora Edwards, an American author, “In helping others, we shall help ourselves, for whatever good we give out completes the circle and comes back to us.” The genuine cultural tone of “Serving the Community” at Alliant is evidenced in the responsiveness of Dr. White’s employee-based audience. Early on Saturday mornings throughout the year, an energetic and friendly group of Alliant employees clothed in bright green, Alliant-branded, Open Hand t-shirts, convene at the Open Hands warehouse to lend a helping hand.

While packing meals and stacking lunch bags for 3 – 4 hours at a time, Alliant employees, often accompanied by friends and family members, provide commercial breaks of singing and laughter as they work tirelessly to ensure the Open Hand team has every meal ready for delivery on Monday morning.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2015 “the circle of giving” completed and came back to Alliant, when Dr. White and members of his leadership team - Carol Allen - EVP COO, Margot Townsend - HR Director, and Kimberly Rask, MD, PhD - were invited to the Open Hand Corporate Volunteer breakfast, to receive the “Community Spirit Award”. This is no small achievement – Alliant, a nonprofit organization with an employee base of 207, of which approximately 150 are Atlanta-based, was an award winner amongst the ranks of global corporations like Southwest Airlines, The Home Depot, Bank of America, UPS, The Coca Cola Company, AT&T and nationally based Turner Broadcasting System and The Arby’s Foundation equally recognized as the most dedicated corporate volunteers. Alliant employees based in Dallas, TX, Jackson, MS, Raleigh, NC and Columbia, SC have also organized service projects to support their communities – now that’s what we call the “Alliant spirit of giving!”

A special thanks to Alliant’s Chief Data Officer, Dr. Kimberly Rask who serves as a member on the Open Hand Board of Directors, and all Alliant employees who continue to support the Alliant company goal of “Serving the Community” in which we live.
